We interviewed a top Toronto SEO expert and this was what he had to say.

As I have mentioned in my earlier posts, there is a variety of products that can be created and used in information marketing: reports, ebooks, interviews, transcripts, videos, audios. To a vast majority of people, especially those just starting online, product creation presents a huge challenge. It is fueled by fear, insecurities, lack of experience. Once the first product is created, the follow-ups become easier. But the first hurdle has to be overcome, and often it takes a lot longer than it should.

 Most of us, especially first-timers, aim to create a masterpiece. It just has to be perfect!  I am one of those people. As if we were trying to compete with Leo Tolstoy’s “War & Peace” or something like this. Because we are so new to it, we still don’t know that in info-marketing it is completely unnecessary and even counter-productive. Why so? Because the aim of information marketing is really simple – to provide information to the hungry market. To educate it. To answer burning questions. It needs to be engaging, but it does not need to be perfect.

 With these goals in mind, product creation really should not take too much time. Market and niche research take the longest time, and so does research into other products in the niche. Once all the information is ready, it needs to be organised into bullet points and a mindmap (I use Free Mind – http://freemind.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Download). Product creation should not take too long at all after this has been done.

 INTERVIEW – STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS

 1. Decide on a niche, sub-niche and target market. Is it a money-spending market hungry for information?

2. Research. Normally the best way to start research would be to go on Google, Clickbank, Amazon, PayDotCom.com and look for top selling products in the niche. Buy the ones that you really like, read through them. Go on forums in the niche, choose 10 most questions.

3. Review purchased products on your blog. Publish review on review sites.

4. Contact creators of those products (through Twitter, Facebook, email or their own blog), ask if you could be their affiliate.

5. Get unique affiliate link created.

6. Let the expert create content for the interview. Send them questions in advance.

7. Test that everything works. Use Skype to communicate during an interview, Pamela to record it.

8. Create an introduction and the closing part of the interview.

9. Edit the interview.

10.Offer as a freebie, a paid product or a bonus to a higher end product.

 FASTEST PRODUCTS WHICH CAN BE CREATED FROM AN INTERVIEW

 1. CD  – this needs to be outsourced, and can be used as a free or paid product, or as a bonus as part of a package.

2. Produce an MP3 recording of an interview.

3. Transcribe the book using Casting Words (www.castingwords.com), add graphics, convert it to a PDF format, add cover – you have an ebook.

 A book produced this way will normally be quite short – possibly a report, not a paid product. But it can be used to drive traffic to paid products, and it in itself puts a very high value on it.
